about

Jim Knable wrote this song in a Moclips, WA hotel room, enjoying the benefits of his brother-in-law's long lost friends reunion, inspired by the story of the hotel that used to be there circa 1908 before it was washed away along with the dreams of the man who built it. So everything in this song is probably true.

This recording is a family affair production. Dennis Tevlin—masterful engineer, producer, and musician (bass, drums, etc.)—had his professional guitar player son Liam Tevlin add the electric guitar part. Jim Knable's sixteen-year-old nephew Nick Chang is on trumpet, in his first studio session. Tom Miller (on harmonica), Nick, Dennis, and Jim met at Moclips during the reunion that Jim's brother-in-law does with his college friends every year. They became the impromptu house band for two nights and thus this collaboration was born.

Jim Knable and The Randy Bandits New York

Studio albums: BLUE REUNION (2020), GOLDEN ARROW (2009), REDBEARD (2006), GREEN MAN (2007-18) form the core of Jim Knable's songwriting output, but the crust is also worth exploring. ... more
